Sunday in Baños

On Sunday morning, we got up early for a short walk to the Thermal Baths of The Virgen - basically pools that were built in an area where hot (or cold) water from the ground (or the waterfall) could be tunneled into the pool. Did I mention that Baños means baths for you super gringos. :-)

Here is a picture of Britton standing next to the waterfall and again a picture of him at the lookout point next to the waterfall. Behind him is the city of Baños and the next picture is the view just to the right of him of the Piscanas de la Virgin at 6:30 in the morning - it´s aleady crowded because the people have strong beliefs in the healing powers of the water.

After breakfast, we rented 4-wheelers (we each had our own, but this picture was more fun) and headed for the mountains. It was really fun and the view of the canyons and of the city of Baños were spectacular.
We had lunch in the central mercado. Each cook has her own little kitchen and one table. You have to choose where you want to eat based on what each person is serving that day. We picked one and sat down, it was like being in your mom´s kitchen... but different.
This is the local smoothie bar, it was so pretty we had to take a picture.
