We are homeowners!

The papers are signed by all parties! We have been reviewing our finances over and over to make sure that we can handle all those costs that add up: down payment, insurance, appraisal, home inspection, termite inspection, moving expenses and a few surprises I'm sure (not to mention we are going to Taiwan in June). I caught Britton actually emptying out his piggy bank to put into our checking account! It's not THAT bad, but he is SO adorable I had to post this.

Cooper River Bridge Run

Last weekend, Britton and I went to Charleston for the annual 10K race over the Cooper River and through downtown Charleston. (Us, Kathy, Billy, Elizabeth, Joe and little Carter before the race).

On Sunday, we put in an offer on a house (the one pictured in the previous blog entry). After about 5 counter-offers, today we finally agreed on a contract that both parties were happy with. Yippie!

Tampa - looking for houses!

Last weekend, we drove down to Tampa to check out the neighborhoods and look for a house. The character and location of South Tampa (wedged between two beautiful bays and very close to Tampa General Hospital) is appealing to us. It's very different from our cozy little Columbia, SC but we are ready for a different adventure. We learned that we could get a much nicer and larger townhouse at our price point than a single family home in this area. At this point in our lives, not having to care for a yard is probably an advantage anyway. This is the one that we are currently most interested in but we have several backup interests including a few single family homes. We will probably make an offer in a few days...wholly cow!
