Road Trip

Last week Britton and I loaded up the car and went on a road trip. We spent Friday night in Gainesville, FL - my old stomping ground. We had dinner at Leonardo's pizza (it was as good as I remembered!) and I took Britton on a jogging tour of campus the next morning.

Saturday afternoon, we arrived in Atlanta and hung out with Andy and Shelley (our gracious hosts) and were later joined by Janna, John, Oliver and Evan. Andy is a fabulous cook and I highly recommend stopping by their house for a meal if you are in Atlanta, whether you know them or not. ;-)

Sunday morning, we went out to brunch with a group of friends, which was actually a surprise shower - sneaky! We got to sample Shelley's cake making and decorating skills, delicious! Thanks ladies!!! We feel so loved! After brunch, we headed to the park and eventually wound down with dinner and Wii's Rockband!

Monday, we drove to Columbia and hung out with Kelley and her son Noah at her new pool and I got to sport my preggo lady bathing suit! That night we had dinner with Britton's dad, Pat and her son Jonathan.

Tuesday, Britton took me on a jogging tour of his old neighborhood and we went by his old house. Then we cleaned up and headed over to campus to see my friends and former professors. We had lunch at my favorite sandwich place next to campus and then headed over to see the kids that I used to babysit all the time when we lived in Columbia (see video for proof that Britton will be a great dad!). That evening we headed over to Top Spin, a tennis club where Britton played tennis and worked as a lifeguard when he was in high school. With lots of nostalgia under our belts...

Wednesday, we drove to Charleston to see Britton's mom and family. We were soon joined by Julieann, Caleb and Elijah. We had dinner with Elizabeth, Joe, Carter, Foster and Leslie; trips to the beach and the pool with Julieann and her sons; and of course time at Grandmama's house, a.k.a. the greatest place on earth.

My mom joined us on Friday and stayed for the weekend. Britton's sisters and aunts threw us a shower on Saturday and it was also very nostalgic. Weren't we just here 2 1/2 years ago adding a fantastic man to my life? And now I get to have another man?! Cool. You couldn't be surrounded by a more loving group of women! Britton's family is very impressive in the way that everyone will gather to cheer you on in life, it means so much to us. Thank you so much!!!

A special thanks to Kathy Rodwell for taking all these pictures (and many more) and being so sweet that she burned them on a CD and mailed them to me! Thank you, Kathy!
